Change in radio reception V70-XC70 2000

I recently purchased a 2000 V70SE with the antenna in the rear side glass. Actually, it appears to be on both sides which is different from my recently departed 850 wagon. Initially my reception was quite good, in fact I noted a marked improvement over the 850, both vehicles using the SC-816. I was selling a used SC-816 from my older 850 and decided to verify that all was functioning before selling it, so I unplugged the radio from the V70 and plugged in the test radio. When I reinstalled the original radio in the V70, I noticed that the reception was not as good as it had been. I double checked the antenna connection in the radio and it was inserted good and tight. Nothing else was removed, just the two power connectors and the antenna. The antenna connector is the smaller diameter connector, and yes, I inserted it into the smaller hole.

Is there something that I might have missed? like a fuse in the antenna amplifier?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
