It won't matter, even if you have 50K miles on the car. The belt is almost 10 years old and should have been replaced 4 years ago. Age of the belt counts also.
Do you know if you have the hydraulic tensioner or the manual one? If it is the manual one, it could have been at fault. The early manual tensioners have been known to fail prematurely. The hydraulic tensioner needs to be replaced at 140K miles and the manual one every 105K, or sooner.
