AC/REC lights flash briefly after starting, then stay on. Cause for concern? 850 1994

Does the climate computer retain the codes?

Mine has been doing the flash-thing and becomes confused but *only when it's hot out*. When it's cold like today it works just fine.

I suspect the temp sensor and I shop-vacced the dust out of it but it didn't help. I'd normally just wait for things to fail completely, except for my wife. Since I need to manually override the climate control it just works on "Antarctic" cold, or the ambient temperature or "Death Valley" hot. My wife is getting very very annoyed. I have a service appointment but there's no point if the code isn't retained.
