What Champ6 was trying to describe is also known as the lawn mower syndrom: Start the car, move it 5 feet to get the lawn mower out of the garage, and turn the car off before oil pressure has built up. That results in the valves being partially lifted and no compression.
The solution is to push the gas pedal to the floor (that turns off the gas flow) and crank the starter for 30-60 seconds. The starter moter turns the engine fast enough to build a little oil pressure to support the hydraulic lifters and compression will return. This may take several attempts, so a good battery charge is required :)
This only works if there are no recorded trouble codes.
