How to Turn Off Dashboard Error Lights 850

Is there a way to turn off the dashboard error lights, specifically, the Check Engine light. I'll be honest; I would like to pass the smog test and not pay several hundred dollars in technician fees. I don't believe there is a fuse that I can disconnect. If you know a way to turn it off please let me know.
