225,000 miles and there is always something wrong with the car :) It still runs, doesn't it? Probably much better than than other cars with 200K+.

The odometer is not related, the gear broke. Another can be had from auto supply houses. Scan Ebay for odometer and you will find some.

While your instrument cluster is out, it will be a good time to replace all of the bulbs.
