Ero rails 2004 V70r V70-XC70 2004

Please can anyone who has an 04 V70r purchased without euro rails please tell
me if the rubber to the trim on the roof gutter has 2 gaps about 3" long in them?
I have removed euro rails and purchased new trim but cannot understand why
i have gaps in the rubber for the water to run inside.
