Hello,
Whatever is triggering the ETS light should also be setting DTC's. When the codes are "set", they don't just disappear (unless they are cleared). Have you had the 155 recall performed? The new software installed with the 155 may help your symptoms. Generally, (nothing is concrete) the failure rate of the replacement ETM is low (I don't recall replacing any of the ETM's with the yellow label; the originals with the white label are common failures). Anyway, your shop should be able to tell you something by reading the DTC's (even if there are no lights or symptoms when the car is there). Any ETS faults should be covered under the extended warranty (as I'm sure you know). Let me know if you need anything else.
