I had a slow leak across the back of the engine, and posted here for advice as my car's records show the TORL gasket/o-ring were replaced 15k miles before I bought it. I suspected initially the cause was elsewhere and got some good tips here. I finally had the opportunity to get up under the car, and sure enough it was the usual o-ring.
On disassembly I noted the obvious absence of the bracket that goes around the middle of the line (shown at http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair/turborepairline.htm ) Previous repair person must have forgotten something.
My guess is this may have led to premature failure of the seal at the crankcase, if there was unusual movement of the line. Could have been hit (maybe), or just normal vibration or expansion of parts that caused it to move a little too far?
Any comments? The car doesn't leak now (for the first time in almost a year) and I'd like to keep it that way. I am planning to visit the dealer to buy a clamp, but any advice is welcome. Don '85 854T
