Howdy Bricksters,
So Yesterday I changed out the 5 plugs in my 96, started it up, wow beautiful, got out on the road drove a bit, everything fine, then I gunned it.
Check engine light came on and idled ruff, under load it made the characteristic of a misfiring cylinder. So I pull it back up and start looking around. I pull all the plugs, perfect, checked all the wires great, so getting irritated, I start the engine and started pulling off plug wires. starting from the passenger side, cylinder 1,2,3,4, the idle would drop then the vacuum would compensate. The really interesting one is when I would pull of plug wire "5" The rpm remain the same, no drop, no nothing, thought I found the problem. The wire was alright since when I pulled it off of a running engine it shot what could only be plasma to the head, so I switched plugs, same problem. I check to make sure that the plug was getting juiced so I took on of the old ones and connected to the outside so I could see what was going on. It was getting spark, even though it seem quite weak (these are the Volvo 3 prong plugs), so I tried on plug wire # 1 and it still looked the same (weak), I guess that's normal, my old 240 looked like a lightning storm compared to this. So it seems it is the "5" cylinder misfiring but everything is working as far as I van tell with the igntion, I think now I'm going to check fuel, but that probably alright. If you guys have any ideas, I would LOVE to hear them.
Thanks,
Blake
P.S. I moving into college today at 5, and would really love to have the car running since it's my mode of transprtoation
