Mine does the same thing, and more. Here's what else mine does:
- when it works, it blows ICE COLD. However, if I adjust the temperature control, there is an 80% probability that the compressor will shut off
- if I adjust the fan speed, there is a 90% probability the compressor will shut off
- if I turn on recycling, there is an 80% chance the compressor will shut off
- if the compressor ever shuts off, for any reason, and I then turn the fan selector to "off" position, the residual air that is pushed through the vents (by driving down the road) that WAS warm turns ICE COLD again. I can then turn the fan back on, and the air becomes warm again. Turn it right back off, and the air becomes ice cold AGAIN. To get functional air conditiong again, i have to turn off the AC switch, turn off the fan, leave it off for about 5 minutes, then turn on the AC switch, then fan speed selector (in that order).
It's about as frustrating as anything can be.
