I have a 1994 850 Turbo Sedan with 147k miles. The 140k service was done about 4,000 miles ago, and I had the timing belt replaced by a Volvo dealership.
About 10 minutes into driving the car, I was leaving a stoplight and while accelerating the motor suddenly lost power and stalled. Glided to a parking lot, where I re-started the motor. But it will only run if I stay on the throttle, so I "limped" it home by revving the motor and being "unkind" in the use of neutral to drive.
The motor has no power when trying to accelerate, very weak even on the slightest inclines.
Let the car sit in the garage until cold, and then re-started it. Appeared to start up normally, and ran very smooth until the revs came down, at which point it sounded like it was missing and then stalled. So for the first few seconds I thought it might live, but no such luck. Again, it will "run" if you keep revving the motor, but it is very weak and will not hold any sort of idle.
I am going to put a compression gauge on the motor, I am thinking that I have jumped the timing belt, which was replaced 4,000 miles ago.
Just wondering if anybody else has idea's of what or where to look for solutions?
Thanks in advance.
