I've noticed my bulb failure warning lamp briefly flashes on frequently when I step on the brakes - doesn't do it always, but often and only momentarily - it never stays on. None of the lights were out, but I replaced the two brake light bulbs anyway, thinking there might be a tiny fracture in a filament or something. No luck. The third brake light does appear to have any replaceable parts (besides the whole thing).
Any one know how this system works. I believe it monitors the low beam head lights, the brake lights and the tail lights. Not sure about turn signals. Since the light only comes on when I step on the brake, I figured it was related to one of these 3 lamps, but I'm not sure. Are all the monitored lamps using the same monitoring circuit? Could perhaps mismatched headlamp bulbs cause the step-on-the-brake symptoms I'm seeing. I replaced one of the low beam bulbs about 6 months ago, so they're probably not exactly matched, but I've only noticed the bulb failure warning in the last few weeks.
Anyone seen these symtoms before? Any advice, tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,
