Does the windshield washer tank level sensor go bad?

Klaus,

I think the set-up may be different on the '98. The two leads connect to tuning fork shaped probes inserted into the glass tube.

I searched some engineering sites on the web and the sensor may be what is known as a "vibrating fork." It works by sending a frequency from one fork to be received by the other. The change in the level of immersion in the fluid (process medium) will cause a change in the frequency and trigger the light.

I'm not an engineer and my interpretation could be way off base.

My previous car, a GM make, did use a conductive probe sensor.

Bryan
