The new oil turns brown immediately after filling due to mixing with old oil and it gets of course darker by time. Black, well no but dark brown..
After the flushing experiment it is still transparent/light brown after 10 000 km driving, it definitely gives a better impression but maybe it has no practical effect? I will probably go on with it just because it looks so much better
I really like to stay out of main seal and oil ring problems as long as possible, that would definitely buy me a lot of free time.
I have not seen the mixing effect on any of my previous cars but all of them had the drain plug right below the oil pan, not on the side.
The 20000km oil service interval scheduled for V70 year 2000 is obviously too long, it causes gumming and the filter cartridge looks like a bag of charcoal... 15000km seems to be a better choice. Probably got a lot of gunk in the engine to clean out due to the schedule.
Im also looking at the stick and consider 'dark honey' as the signal for change
