RPM gauge problem? S70 1999

The service light that comes on when you start your car and goes off soon after is just a reminder light that it's time to change your oil. If it was changed recently the tech forgot to reset it. It comes on every 5000 miles, I belive. About the RPM Guage: 1 is actually 1000, 2 is 1000, etc. At idle the gauge should be right "under" 1. However if your idle is rough and it's a bit lower, you might need a tune up. When is the last time you had the spark plugs and ignition wires changed? Have you not had your 60,000 mile service and your car is at 65? You should have it done. There's quite a few things that should be done at that interval. Although not on the schedule, insist that your transmission fluid is flushed and replaced too. Your car will be much happier for it when it hits 100,000 miles or so. Not stupid questions, so don't put yourself down. Just keep coming back here if you need to.
