Clicking noise coming from behind the glovebox 850 1995

Well, its always has to be something. If it wasn't the transmission problems (that have been cured) it's now a clicking noise coming from behind the glove box. At first (last year) the recirc rocker switch had to be in the on position all the time or this noise would be there. Now (the past couple of weeks) if the switch is on or off the clicking is there. I seems to cycle about every 1 to 1.5 seconds. I pulled the glove box out and traced the sound and feeling it as it cycled to a part just to the left of the blower motor. This part has a plug going into it with about 4 or 5 multi-colored wires attached. I unplugged it and the noise went away. The a/c still blows nice and cold from the vents, so for now, I'm leaving it unplugged. Question, what did I unplug?

Thanks again in advance......
