S80 cam timing, variable cam timing S80 1999

Has anyone gotten involved in replacing cam seals in a S80. Mine leaks oil, I pulled the timing blet off and removed the intake camshaft sprocket. I do not know how to properly align the cam sproket as the car has variable cam timing. I can line up the mark on the sprocket, but there is no key to the cam, and it did turn. So the cam could be way off. Is there an easy way to align the cam for reassmebly, or do I need a special tool. Has anyone done this before? Any help woould be great.
