HELP! 95 850T AT won't drive in any gear 850

Got tranny code 124-"Mode selector faulty or short circuit to ground". PNP seems fine and linkage is hooked up fine. Reverse lights come on in reverse and Park keeps the car from rolling. However, in any other gear the car rolls as if in nuetral.
Also, the car was driving perfectly for a 1/2 mile when suddenly it just seemed it was in nuetral. No noticeable noises or lights on dash, just lost power to the wheels. I had to tow it home.
