hood release snapped :( 850

Did you notice which end broke? If it broke at the handle end under the dash (keep your fingers crossed...) try and get some ViseGrip pliers on the cable and see if you can pull and release the hood that way. If it broke up near a latch under the hood you're moderately screwed. There are actually three latch points at the forward edge of the hood. One at each forward corner actuated by cables and the secondary one in the middle near the grill that you release when you pull that tab that pokes out from the grill. If you can't get it to pop up from the cable under the dash I'd take it to the dealer and let them replace it. Otherwise you'll mess up the hood trying to pry it open or bust the latches. There's no way for mortals to reach the underhood cables without doing damage, it will take superhuman strength and Ninja like concentration. Maybe they can go under the hood from the left front wheelwell and feel around for the cable that way, I don't know. It's up along the top edge of the fenderwell. Anyway, good luck and let us know what the outcome is.
