sounds exactly like the rear main seal leak I had last summer on my '95 850. Started suddenly and by most accounts from this list, is very common in that year. I actually found the dealer gave me the best price to repair: $900, or 20% off list. Just had to ask for his best price. I found the indie shops around here (St Louis) wanted $1300-$1400.
