crunching sound V70-XC70

'98 v70, 150k miles Great car other than minor annoyances that seem to be repeated in this forum.

I back out of my home garage and then turn the wheels to the extreme left. As I accelerate down my drive I hear a crunching noise that goes away as soon as I start returning my wheels to the straight ahead position. I think the crunching noise shouldn't happen. I don't have the same sound when I do a similar manuever turning to the right.

There is only minor vibration at any speed.

Motor mount or ball joint?... or something else?
