Climate control continues to blink V70-XC70 1998

Yes, but first I would inspect the cabin temperature sensor.

For LHD cars if you look to the left of the EEC contols next to the rear screen heater switch you will see a small grill.

If you get a torch and look inside the grile you should see a thermocoule (thin wire with a bead on it) and a small fan behind it. You should see the fan move when the main blower is running.

This sensor gets clogged up with fluff and the fan can't turn causing the flashing lights.

You can try cleaning it with a vacuum cleaner of better still remove the sensor to clean it and lightly lubricate the fan bearing. To get to it you need to remove the radio, EEC unit, and the heated screen switch.
