V40 coolant too cold? S40-V40 2000

Hello to all- My check engine light came on and I took it to have the code read. The message said the coolant temperature was too low. Doesn't that seem ridiculous? I asked the guy at AutoZone which sensor was bad and was told me it was an ECT sensor, any idea where that can be found under the hood? I took the cover off the top of the engine, but nothing there looked like the replacement sensor...Also any notion where one can get a Mitchell manual on one of these babies? I love my car- bought it just a couple months ago, I just don't know where everything is yet! Thanks for your help.
