Clattering/rattle in brakes when not depressed 850

Plenty of bumpy road around her in NYC and you can imagine.
My brakes have developed and clattering, rattling sound when going over
any small bumps. It's really an annoyance in the car...like a loose part or something. When I depress the brakes, it's gone. Brakes work fine.

Last year, had the same problem, took it in to the shop, he mentioned some 'spacers' or something that prevent the rattling.

Can anyone identify this to be true? where can I get these? can I intall them reasonably easily?
