Wonder why. . . . is the Australian market just not aware of the 'R' model?

I think it's more to do with the stigma attached to driving a Volvo in Australia, hence the idiot "Bloody Volvo Driver" advertising campaign run by Volvo Cars Aust.
Here in Adelaide, since that ad campaign, I cop constant abuse from the drongo's whether I drive my 240 or 850 just because it's a Bloody Volvo, but in the U.S. college kids seem to love 'em.
