Gas gauge problem 850 1995

Hey all,

I ran into an odd condition with my '95 850 in the past few days. My fuel gauge has been operating intermittantly. When the vehicle is started, the needle for the gas gauge stays in the red zone and the low fuel indicator is on. I can drive the vehicle for a while and the pointer will move to indicate the correct amount of fuel in the tank. I have had success in shutting the car off and restarting to get the gauge to read correctly.

Is this typically a sender problem in the tank, or is it more likely something related to my instrument panel?

Thanks,

Nate
