Sounds like a bearing going out... V70-XC70 1998

The last few days, I have been hearing a noise that sounds like a bearing going out. It is speed sensitive, not engine speed sensitive. I can hear it aroung 30 mph, then again at around 55 mph, and again around 75 mph.

I'm wondering if it might be the tires, Michelin Energy MXV Plus with around 20,000 miles on them, or perhaps the sound of something bad about to happen. The sound does not change with brake application, or if I shift the car into neutral. It is a 98 V70 AWD automatic.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike Harris in Sandy Eggo
