New Volvo V70 170BHP V70-XC70

The transmission is pretty much the same. The engine is the same block and displacement (2.4L) but the engine management system is totally different; the new V70 uses the latest Bosch Motronic 7.01. It also employs Variable Valve Timing on both exhaust and intake and the electronic throttle control module is different, hence the car feels like it has more torque.

I understand you do not live in the States as here those cars come with with either 15" or 16" alloys...what would the differences be? The 17" alloys would definitely give you a firmer ride and you must watch the potholes! But they would also enhance the handling of the car along with improving the steering input. Would also make the car look sportier.
