Weird turn signals on a XC I saw today V70-XC70

Hi - I was following a XC for about 6 miles today (I don't know the year). Anyway, everytime the driver put on the turn signal to turn, the OPPOSITE signal came on! Four times this occurred! When the driver was preparing to turn right, his left signal came on - when he prepared to turn left, his right signal came on. I reached my destination before I could speak to him about this. I can't believe at 4:10 in the afternoon in somewhat congested traffic he was fooling around!
