'Clip and Rip' V70-XC70

Since buying my V70R AWD I have been going through an entire maintanence at 60K and one area is flushing the trani. I was amazed how easy it was BUT to avoid any problems I decided to inquire at my local Volvo dealer on a new trani line clip and the 2 o -rings that seal it. When he quoted me $6 dollars for the .90 cent clip and $4 APIECE for the 2 .05 cent O-rings I said "no, not the cooler line itself, just the clip and o-ring". He then corrected me and told me those were the prices. After I kindly asked him to "stuff it", I found that a nice pair of e-ring pliars remove the $6 clip quite nicely and the o-rings were in excellant shape! Imagine--$20 for quality trani fluid yet $14 for parts with a manufacturing cost of about .98 cents. How stupid do they really think people are? This is getting a little insain! The more you can do yourself--the better!
By the way, the car shifts like a new trani was put in! Fluid was also nice and brown but no burnt smell. Well worth the effort. Support your local shade-tree heritage!!!!!!!!!
