My 850 will not start 850 1993

There is a problem that causes flooding that is known as
the "Lawn Mower Syndrome". Occurs after you start the car for
only a few seconds as though backing out of the garage to
get the lawn mower out. The car then cranks very quickly
(the fuel in the engine is preventing the pistons from sealing
so it easily cranks) and quickly floods. If it does start, it
might stumble and then die. If this happens you often need to
change the plugs and the oil (the oil will be fuel contaminated).
Letting the car "dry out" for a while (read hours) and then it
starts. Happened to us twice on our 95 855.

Any chance the car was started for just a few seconds before you
have the problem?

This is just one possibility but it is somewhat common and would
be seen only if you started the car for a few seconds. There are
other problems like leaky fuel injector, bad pickup sensor for engine
cam position, etc. that could cause this, too.
