VIN question S70 1998

I am decoding my VIN. Volvo's oweners circle says that the S70 chassis numbers start at 408558. My question is - Is there anyway to determine what number you were off the assembly line between that number and the chassis number of my car? Is it as easy as subtracting that number fom my number? or is there just no way to tell without spending many hours on the phone?
