Check Engine Light - Coil Pack Suspect? S40-V40 2003

Hello, while in the process of installing new spark plugs in my beloved 2003 S40, when I pulled the two wires that supply power to one of the coil packs, the insulation on those wires crumbled and are now almost completely bare.

I put new plugs in and tried to insert the two wires back into the connector and I think I got them connected, but when I start the motor, it runs great but the "Check Engine" light is on.

Could it be caused by the two wires being close to each other and perhaps arcing? What should I reinsulate the two wires with? Like I say, the old insulation nearest to the business end of the wire is pretty much gone.

Any insight greatly appreciated.

Regards,

DougW
