Brake Position Indicator Switch, 2003 XC70 V70-XC70

The car is a 2003 XC70 (148K miles). A recent check of codes by my Indie
shop identified a problem with the Brake Position Indicator Switch (installed
on the back of the brake booster).

I have looked on-line and saw how to replace it, but did not find guidance on:
-- how to test the installed switch to determine if it is malfunctioning.
-- does a new switch need to be calibrated/programed after installation.
Thanks
Art

The Indie has 4 weeks of work backed up, so thought I would give the fix a go.
