Transmission service Required V70-XC70

the v70 has 182K miles on it. Never had any trans. issues. I just checked the fluid- and it is not dark at all. Looks good, actually. the car shifts fine, although we had a very weird incident last week. Doing @50mph, getting ready for an off-ramp, when the car felt like it hit a pothole where there wasn't one. Kinda freaky. The car then began to act as though the no spin feature was applied and was very sluggish on acceleration from a dead stop. This is our first V70, a plain jane w/out turbo that has served us well except for the ignition locking mechanism nuttiness. that is another long story.
Am I now looking at a costly transmission issue? Paid 6500.00 w/ the trade in of my 91 Bertone coupe. - so, 4500.00 total for a 2004 v70. It may be time to cut my loss. I have read about a lot possibilities as to what is going on. But first check the OBD. Oh wait - that was on the Bertone!
