Hello All,
I wanted you to know I was successful in finding two used Bosch Fuel Pressure Dampers from a salvage yard in CA on Friday. I ordered two. One for my Silver 1996 850 GLT wagon that needs a replacement damper and one in advance for my Red 1996 850 GLT wagon, which doesn't for the moment. Before I go further, I want to thank everyone who took the time to respond and share their advice. Your help explains why I keep coming back to this website when a problem arises with one of my Volvos. Your help and interest, in my opinion exemplifies the kinship of Volvo owners, which I think is unique. I also want to say, that I called all the vendors listed in the back of Rolling related to Volvo parts and services. Rolling is the magazine of the Volvo Club of America. A quick disclosure: I am on the Board of Directors of the Volvo Club and serve as the Club's General Counsel and I am a member of the VCOA. Anyway, I called all the vendors, and one of them, although they did not have the damper I was looking for, gave me the names of 4 shops/salvage yards that might have it, and one of them proved successful.
I obtained the damper I had been search for days from:
Volvo, Saab, BMW, Mini Cooper Auto Dismantlers

The fellow who answered the phone and helped me was named Kenny Dugdale. He was very helpful. He took my information and I texted him a picture of the damper I was looking for. He went out into the yard, and found two correct dampers for me. He took pictures of them and texted them to me. I purchased two and their price was very reasonable. I asked Kenny if he had anymore dampers left, or had I purchased them all? He said he has a few left. So if anyone needs a fuel pressure damper for a '96-97 850 non-turbo, I hope the information above saves you the time and frustration I experienced. I want to add, I have no private or financial interest to the above salvage yard. I share this information in case if can help someone else.
Again, thank you collectively for your help.
Hugh
