Loose passenger-side mirror V70-XC70 2000

2000 V70 SE

During a long interstate drive yesterday, I noticed the passenger-side mirror began shaking from vibration, or wind flow, or both. Today I examined the mirror and mount. The whole mirror assembly remains securely mounted to the door, and the electric adjusting mechanism works fine and moves the mirror.

The glass mirror is mounted in a molded rubber pocket inside the outer housing which normally keeps it stable and secure; however, the rubber pocket has lost its grip on the mirror glass, hence the shaking. Applying an adhesive between the back of the mirror glass and the rubber pocket comes to mind as an idea for a fix.

Wondering if any BB member has had a similar issue with side mirror glass losing its grip in the rubber pocket.
