rear coil spring xc70 2011 V70-XC70 2011

So, my wife has a well maintained 54K mile xc70 AWD. Never crashed, never tagged a pot hole.

The right rear coil spring is broken.

dealer wants $750 pluss 99$ for alignment. to do both sides.

OK, so I look at this and they want 1 1/2 hours to do each side. It looks like my old Datsun where if you disconnected the shock and sway bar the suspension arm would drop down low and the coil spring would literally fall out. you could pick it up in your hand and just replace it. Is that possible on this car?

Is there any need to use a spring compressor? There is no strut on the back, it's a tube shock back there.
