If you do have an OBD port on your car, you could try this:

I run it on an ancient laptop with Win95 for my '96, not sure if the program has been updated to run on more recent computers, but mine does report live data. The interface is a bit strange, though ...
I haven't tried the DICE on the '96, I thought it wouldn't work on the earlier cars.
