203 XC70 cabin heat isue V70-XC70

The car heater does not produce adequate heat in the norma Temp range settings 68-72F

What I know: -Thermostat was replaced last year when the water pump was.
-Per temp gage car warms up to correct indication in about a
mile.
-If you turn the Temp settings to max. you get unregulated hot
air.
- a check of the heater hose coupling temps.(engine
compartment
firewall) indicates 155F -160 in, and 148F or so out (used
infra-red gun).
- have blown air gently in dash Temp sensing opening ??

What next:? try flushing the core ??? but I am getting heat on max setting ??
OR try to locate a malfunctioning damper door ???

Thx.
