CVVT Hub oil leakage question... V70-XC70 2007

Chris,

If by "negative pressure" you mean when you place a glove over the oil fill cap it gets sucked in, then yes, it is good in that respect.

I'm really starting to lean towards just replacing the darn hub, especially after all the reading I wound up doing last night.

It appears that these hubs have axial play, ok, I get that, but apparently over time they develop radial play as well and no new O-ring is going to fix this, which is what I believe I now have.

I could go in and re-seat the CAM seal on the exhaust side, this time placing it almost flush and seeing what that does, OR, I can do that AND replace the hub and Lord willing call it done.

Thoughts?
