Water in Passenger Carpet S40-V40 2006

My car has a musty smell due to the front passenger carpet being damp and the rear passenger carpet being soaked after a long trip. Before the last 1,200 mile trip I used an air fan and completely dried out the carpets. At the end of the trip the rear carpet was soaked. This was in cold weather. While I had the heat on - the AC light was lit. Does not smell of antifreeze.

Two issues - first is to identify the cause and stop and moisture. Second if getting rid of the smell.
