2006 V70 2.4 NA Lower left Intake Manifold Bolt V70-XC70

I just purcahsed a 2006 V70 2.4 NA and am doing the the PCV. I'm stuck loosening the well know passenger side lower bolt on the mainfold.

Spent about 1 hr unsuccessfuly trying to remove the infamous lower left bolt - tried 1/4" 10mm socket with wobble extensions of various lengths, a flexible extension bar, universal joint etc. Can just get the socket on the bolt slightly but at a slight angle and it comes off when I apply torque. There is not quite enough clearance and the back of teh socket seems to touch the cooling/thermostat body and hence isn't quite square and the socket can't get on teh bolt head propertly/fully. Also tried a 10mm crows foot but only have 3/8" ones and its too big to even get close to the bolt.

I've read that some cars have a round thermostat mount and others a square and that the square is more difficult. I naturally have the square. Is tehre a trick to this or a recommended tool? I was wondering is a cut down socket mught just give enough clearance.

There's also some type of fitting on the left side of teh manifold. Not sure what this is but its connected to the 90 degree pipe that joins to the PCV valve/box. Moving this might give a smidge more room but I still think the cleanance between teh socket and teh cooling/thermostat boss is the problem

Is this even possible or am I stuck going more disassembly. If yes, what do I need to disassemble. Coolant pipe, thermostat enclosure, power steering pump, alternator? Even getting at the torx to get the thermostat body look difficult sicne I have 'fat bodied' torx drivers

Frustrating since it really should be a fairly easy job.

Any advice or trick I'm missing?
