96' 850 Turbo flashing transmission arrow 850

Ok, my daughter saI'd the car would hardly move this morning. When I got home I noticed the transmission arrow was flashing and I know this can cause or behave as though it was in winter mode. I corrected this a few months back when. I replaced the ignition switch which fixed severàl dash light problems. I got to thinking about maybe the key is so worn and not making proper contact interally. I took the key out and rotated 180 aND the arrow went away. I switched the key again to see if I could reproduce the problem but couldn't after several tries. Anyone had key wear cause this problem? Also while turning the key slowly there is a loud relay noise under center console, fuel pump relay? Should it make this much noise?
