HEATER SMELL has RETURNED! V70-XC70 2000

It might not be a leak, some of the new cores have a coating that may 'burn off' the first few times that the vents are open. Remember, coolant always flows through the heater core even if you do not demand heat. I would wait a few weeks before bringing it back to the shop.

It wouldn't be difficult to remove the kick panel under the dash and then the side panel next to the gas pedal, allowing you to check for a leak.
