transmission clunk S60 2003

I have to agree with Herb, sometime dealers cannot be avoided. There are a couple of programming mods for the tranny that only the dealer can do. Getting a B4 servo cover before the mod will not break the bank and is so much easier to do with the car on a lift!

Dumping the ATF from the drain plug is not a flush. I am a firm believer in refreshing the ATF every 50K miles after 100K. Either 3 'dumps' or a complete flush, but only at home. Do NOT go to a shop where they use a machine to flush the ATF! The extra pressure from the external pump can break things. It only takes 30 minutes to do a complete flush at home.

If you are going to 'dump' the ATF, I suggest the car sit overnight and dumped before starting the engine. The internals drain fluid into the sump and you might get 4 quarts out, with the dirty stuff not stirred up.
