A video to show how to replace the rear brakes? V70-XC70 1999

Klaus,

Thank you. I once saw my mechanic removed the rear pads, and what I recall and can still see were two opposing nuts on opposite sides of the caliper. They were both attached to the sliding pin. If I recall correctly, you turn the nuts in opposite directions to loosen the sliding pin.

I’m sure I’ll figure it out. As you said it isn’t “Rocket Science”. I just don’t want to screw things up, or turn a simply repair into a nightmare. I’ll follow your advice.

Separately, my beautiful “new” 2002 S60 T5 that I filled this website up with so many questions, was “killed” on 12/22/15. My bride was driving it and she has a lead foot. She went to pass a car in front of her that she thought had pulled off to the side. As she was passing it, it suddenly turned left hitting her on the front passenger side fender. She veered into a telephone pole and blew both air bags. The impact was so strong that she pulled the front driver’s side wheel off the car. Thankfully, she was unscathed. The Volvo did what it was supposed to do, and confirmed why we buy these cars. I only had the car for just over 2 months and never had the chance to take it out on the highway. She said if I ever find another pristine T5 I can buy it no questions asked. That car fell into my life, and I hope another one does too.

Again thank you for your advice on the rear brakes of my XC. I’m sure I’ll be successful, I just have to take my time.

Hugh
