What’s the story with the dashboard? An empty slot? S60 2002

Hello All,

I just purchase a S60T5 with 130,000 from the original owner. I notice a huge, empty slot in the dashboard, just above the radio to the left. It looks like something is missing from the dashboard. In the owner’s manual, I notice that Volvo sells an auxiliary cup holder that neatly fits into this empty slot.

Absent buying the extra cup holder, is the car designed to have this empty slot in the dashboard? If so, it sure looks odd. What are you supposed to stick in it? Your I-Phone?

Thanks to all who respond. I’ve never owned an S60, so this is unique experience for me.

Hugh
