How much turbo "online" time is safe?

I posted some of these questions in deeper thread in the waste gate post without any response so I figured I'd try to be more specific. If you respond, please respond to this set of questions. Thanks

Last night I did the little waste gate trick, with 4.5 turns of the connector.

Now the turbo comes online much faster and the peak pressure is higher. In normal traffic the turbo comes online, just barely, with a non-aggressive, normal traffic start from a dead stop. It also comes online when accelerating from a steady speed to a higher speed. And it even just barely comes online when on cruise control while heading up a mild incline of some length. It can stay this way for the length of the incline. When I say "barely" I mean that the needle just touches the white line to goes into it a couple needle widths, on the stock turbo boost gauge.

Here are my questions.

* Is it safe for the engine to have the turbo come online so easily?

* Do I run the risk of cooking the pistons at this level?

* Will the EC compensate after some more driving?

* There is some mild lag between 3500 an 4000 rpm. Is this normal?

I'd really appreciate some advice on this one.

Thanks in advance.
